Making proper content marketing requires us to understand market trends and market snapshots. To understand our audience we try to find out what they are searching for and what makes them using search for. The 100 most popular keywords searched on Google gives us some indication.
We know branded terms like “Photoshopped” and “Gmail” are frequently searched and are a common point of reference for users. But what about non-brands? What about true keywords that, undoubtedly, are the aim of many digital marketers who want to achieve their SEO mission across the world?
Siege Media used the Ahrefs platform to examine the top queried terms on Google search in the US in the 12 months preceding June 1, 2018.
The list was determined by manually sifting through the most popular search terms overall to find keywords that were not associated with a brand. In addition, porn-related keywords have been removed.
“Weather” is the keyword that receives the highest volume of monthly searches, the analysis found.
Other top terms in the list of most popular keywords are “maps,” “translate,” “calculator,” “YouTube to MP3,” “speed test,” “news,” “thesaurus,” “Powerball,” and “Donald Trump.”
Interesting enough is the fact that “NFL” is the most popular sports looked up term, not the “world cup” which shaked the nations over the last 12 months.
