Mindfulness is the ability to be fully present, being aware of where you are and what you’re doing. It creates the space to observe how you feel in the moment as well as perceive the social cues from those around you.

If you’re looking to increase the bottom line and bring a whole new depth to your sales process, mindfulness in the workplace might be where you want to focus.

It will boost self-control and confidence, improve your listening skills, reduce stress, strengthen mental resilience and better regulate emotional control.

Practicing Mindfulness in the Workplace: Benefits Everyone – Clients, Employees and Sales

Mindfulness is guaranteed to improve your quality of life as well as the quality in living and the mental health of your employees. There is plenty of evidence as to how the domino effect of a positive mental health environment impacts the success of a business and the retention of both employees and clients.

Successful sales over the last decades brought much more emotional aspects to the surface than we might ever experienced before.

Nectar Marketplace has created an infographic filled with actionable tips that you can use to start implementing mindfulness practices in your sales process. You can also check out 20 additional tips from Nectar to implement in 2022 guaranteed to drive growth.

Let me touch base on some of them.

Relationships are key

Studies show that prioritizing relationships can significantly improve the odds of securing a sale if you go on a personal level. Stay cozy with your potential business partner and he will treat you like his family. Reach out regularly, show that you are interested in their world, and adopt a long-term view. This means, don’t talk business all the time, try to be personal and ask more and listen. Acknowledge their thoughts and try to find a dialogue.

Mindset

Your confidence level, how you respond in a situation, your work ethic, and even your ability to hear ‘no’ without getting defeated will have a profound effect on your success. Success lies in the long-term relationship with your peers which will go beyond the border even if/she will switch jobs. They will remember you and contact you again.

Mirroring

Mirroring is a great technique to help you build trust with your prospect quickly and make them feel good. This does not mean being a monkey and following what they do. Keep it simple and try to use the same way of communication which is easy to understand for them.

Often people feel offended if you use words and terminology that they are not aware of and they can not follow the conversation. They might be too shy to ask for clarification. Imitate the same body language, cues and attitude – but don’t go overboard.

Empathize

Empathy gives you a deeper insight into your client’s problem and how to solve it. However, don’t get trapped in topics that you can not solve. Sometimes pointing in the right direction can help, you don’t need to resolve it yourself. Pause before you respond, make sure you are reading their emotions, and put yourself in their shoes.

Active listening

This instills confidence in prospective clients that you really do understand them. Acknowledge what you have heard with body language or short words, and reconfirm if they are talking about a topic. Ask follow-up questions, relay back their situation, and empathize.

Meditation

We live in a world of distraction. This is detrimental to both business and relationships. It might be not everyone’s cup of tea, but it does not need to go always in the same direction. You can find your own way of a peaceful time for your own which allows you to recharge your energy and emotions.

Many successful people out there follow routines to increase their productivity and creativity, one example is Bill Gates who actively practices a Think Week. Listening to music, putting yourself in a good mood, having read a good book or story, or just thinking about your last summer vacation can help you to get off your distractions and find your focus again.

You can maybe also remember the phrase, a healthy body makes a healthy mind. Some people find their inner peace around the corner in the fitness center.

Sum it up

Emotional sales is not a new invention and we might experience it daily in commercials and marketing. What people sometimes do not realize is that what works on a personal level, will also work between employees and clients. As you can see they all go hand in hand. One alone will not make it or break it. But getting yourself closer to your relationship on a business level or private level is nearly the same success.

It is depending on each other. There is no successful wife or husband who is not successful in business life. The dynamics will enable you to master all sides no matter where you go in life. If you manage to create a mindful working environment each individual will be successful, the team and the company.
