When was the last time you checked your Facebook, posted a food image on Instagram, twitted a status, checked LinkedIn for updates on your business counterparts? So how much time do you spend on Social Media? How much time do people spend on social media?
Today’s infographic will bring you either joy (as a marketer) or grief (as a consumer). Influencer marketing company MediaKix (does no longer exist) compiled time usage stats for various social media platforms and put the data together in a handy infographic.
But let’s be honest, the marketer will find this information interesting since they can target their audience better and know on which channel they should place their ads.
The average time spent daily on each of five major social media platforms varies from one minute on Twitter to forty minutes on YouTube, both of which add up to quite a bit over a lifetime.
And I personally feel the number makes sense since consuming Videos takes its time. A surprise is Twitter with spending of only 1 minute per day, which only maybe shows that we click on a link and read
If we count up all the time spend on Social Media we can see that we live virtual for more than 5 years, we turn into robots. But if we look into traditional information channels than
For instance, those forty minutes per day on YouTube will average out to one year, ten months over a lifetime. And you can plan to spend another year plus seven months on Facebook.
People spend more time on social media than they do eating and drinking, the infographic states, but less than they do watching television.
To see time spent
I find this infographic quite informative and helpful. It is a little scary that we spend about 5 years in the virtual world.Another fact is that the half a decade we spend on social platforms is very beneficial to us as a species.Communicating on these platforms gets us information. We get to know what is happening where, why it is happening,to whom it is happening in real time.Information is power, literally.According to Charles Darwin’s theory of evolution, man discovered how to make fire and if you are a believer of this theory, you would agree that information really is power. The discovery of fire made the early people social and they started to live communally in villages, again, the Charles Darwin theory.
According to the stats provided by MediaKix above,I would say that television is an advertiser’s best tool.Marketing should be done mainly on television, get people informed and make a profit doing so.If this remains the general trend, the generations to come will be way more advanced and that is the way it is supposed to be.
Need to inform myself a little, this blog helps me a lot to do so, thanks Skillz Team
